When is the best time to schedule my maternity session? Right now! If you are pregnant and know that you would like a maternity and newborn session, you should reserve your sessions as soon as you can. While I do make every attempt to fit in last minute requests, it can sometimes be difficult to make room in my schedule to accommodate. Please feel free to contact me to inquire about current availability.
When is the best time for the maternity session to take place? Generally anytime between the 34th and 36th weeks. This ensures that your baby belly will be big enough to show well in the photos but you will not be so far along that you will be uncomfortable during the session.
Where will the session take place? All of my work is done on location, which means that the session can take place in your home or at an outdoor location of your choosing. I bring all of the necessary equipment with me for a successful session and all of the images that you see in my portfolio were created on location. Having the session in your own surroundings will also help you to feel comfortable during some of the more intimate poses.
What about the nude poses? Everyone has different levels of modesty and different ideas of how they would like the resulting images to look. Before your session, we will discuss your vision for the session and we can take it from there. You decide if you’d like to remain fully covered or if you’d like to try some tasteful partially nude poses.
What if my baby comes early? What if I have to go on bed rest? If you are unable to complete the maternity session due to medical reasons or because your baby comes early, the session will be converted to a newborn session and the remaining balance will be credited to your account toward the purchase of newborn prints.
Will my husband/partner/children be included in the session as well? Yes! One of the things that I love about the maternity sessions is capturing those last few days of the relationship that you have with your partner. Once the baby arrives, things change a bit so it’s nice to capture this time with the two of you together.
If you have older children, we can certainly incorporate them into the session. I also like to take the time to do a mini session with the older children. This way they can have some special photos before the baby arrives as well.
Do all of the pregnant women that you photograph really have no stretch marks? Many do not, but for those who do, retouching is standard for all maternity sessions. I can touch up as much or as little as you would like.
What if I have more questions? Please feel free tocontact meto ask any questions that you may have. We can also schedule a phone consultation to discuss your sessions, ideas and questions in more detail. Please be sure to include convenient days and times for a return call.
